Alan Lamoy entered eternal peace on May 25th, 2021 at UVM Fletcher Allen in Burlington, Vermont after heart complications. “Al” was born June 28, 1944 in Keene Valley to the late Eleanor and Victor Lamoy.

Al later married the Late and beloved Anne Lawrence and they resided in Upper Jay with Al later moving to Wilmington where he had resided for the last 20 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Eleanor and Victor Lamoy, his wife Ann Lawrence Lamoy, and his brother Leon.

He is survived by his children Lynn, Kelly, Eugene, Timothy, Crystal, and Patricia and their families; his brother James “Jimmy” Lamoy; several close friends whom he considered family, as well they did him, to include: Bob and Jody Kinsman, Eric Kinsman, and Donna Tefoe; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Al enjoyed his time with lifelong friend, Bob Kinsman, and enjoyed many stories, fishing trips, and memories throughout the years. Al enjoyed his times and trips to Lake Placid, and his errand running not only with Bob, but in most recent times with Eric and Donna. He also looked forward to visiting friends, sharing stories, and many laughs. He always had a smile and a story upon a friend’s arrival, and he was always eager to share a fishing or hunting tale about the old days or the latest goings-on about town.

Al was mainly a carpenter in life, lastly retiring from Whiteface Mountain. He was a true Adirondack Man, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the beautiful mountains. Al would count down the days to fishing season, starting in January and always ready to recommend advice or tips of how to catch the big ones.

Simply put, Al Lamoy was a simple man, led a simple life, and he rose and fell in life as we all do, but later in life appreciated all and everyone in it. As he would say “thank you for caring, that’s what life’s all about”.

He will be sorely missed by many, misunderstood by some, and loved by so many. He will always be remembered for his smile, simple and friendly hellos, and quaint chuckles.

Anyone wishing to make donations in his memory, please consider the American Cancer Society, NYS Conversation Program for Youths, or UVM Fletcher Allen in Burlington, VT.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, Upper Jay.

Services were entrusted to Zaumetzer Funeral Home, Au Sable Forks.

Alan and I were the best of buddies growing up. Even though he was actually my nephew, we were more like brother and sister. We roamed the hills around Upper Jay and had many adventures together. ( A few years ago he reminder me of the fights we had over who got to ride the bike first.) He always kept me supplied with the fish he caught. Although, I hadn't seem Alan in several years I have many fond memories of our childhood. Catherine (Lamoy) Gould

I worked with Alan at Whiteface, always enjoyed his company and gentle yet humorous approach to life. One saying of his that I will always remember “ a little putty and a little paint , makes what a carpenter ain’t” . Condolences and blessings to his family.
